The uptrend continues unabated with yet another all time high posted yesterday ($114.86). With only fresh air above yesterday’s high there are not many targets besides round numbers. As we use Fibonacci retracement levels to look for correction limits you can also use extensions, which are a percentage of a certain move added to that move to provide targets. 38.2% of the recent up move from $85 - $107.97 added on to the top of that range gives us a target of $116.76.

We still have an undercurrent of bullish news in the market – the strike at Grangemouth and the ongoing unrest in Nigeria are the main features, but we still feel that the desire of traders to own oil as it looks strong technically is still the force that is driving prices regularly to all time highs. This was evident yesterday as the market opened strong on the aforementioned news but drifted lower through the afternoon session. It was only in the last half hour of trading did we see a rally to close the market near the high. Closes in the direction of the trend are common features and the continuing high closes are underlying the current bull run. As always the market could afford a large correction without negating the long term up trend.
